"Missing manifest file" error during installation
This is one of the most common installation mistakes and is an easy fix. When loading the extension in Chrome, you need to select the folder that contains the extension files — not the zip file itself, and not a file inside the folder. If you're seeing a "missing manifest file" error, it almost always means you've selected the wrong folder or haven't unzipped the file first. Please unzip the downloaded file, then in Chrome go to chrome://extensions, enable Developer Mode, click "Load unpacked" and select the unzipped folder as a whole.
